at age eight, sang the national anthem at a florida panthers game. also performed with orchestras and at a karaoke lounge on a cruise ship, where gloria estefan saw her and told her to pursue music. gloria estefan changed history.
2008
cast as cheerleader charlotte in the broadway musical 13. her broadway debut. she was fifteen.
2010
cast as cat valentine in nickelodeon's victorious alongside elizabeth gillies. had to dye her hair red every other week, which damaged it. the high ponytail era begins.
2011
uploaded covers of adele, whitney houston, and mariah carey to youtube. a friend of republic records CEO monte lipman found the videos. lipman signed her immediately. the rest is history.
2013
released debut album yours truly. debuted at number one on the billboard 200. "the way" featuring mac miller peaked at number nine. she was twenty years old. went vegan. won new artist of the year at the american music awards.
2014
released my everything. "problem" became her first UK number one. became the youngest woman to debut with over 400,000 downloads in one week. performed on saturday night live with chris pratt hosting. named billboard's rising star of the year.
2015
july 4. boca raton, florida. a donut shop. surveillance footage. licking display donuts she did not purchase. saying "i hate america." a subsequent apology. a muppets parody. a snl callback. the most human moment in pop history. we do not condemn her for this.

released dangerous woman, which debuted at number two on the billboard 200 and number one in multiple countries. "side to side" featuring nicki minaj became her eighth top ten. hosted saturday night live. greedy was on this album and was not released as a single.
2017
may 22. the manchester arena bombing at her concert killed 22 people and injured over a thousand. she organized one love manchester, raising $23 million for victims. manchester named her its first honorary citizen. she resumed the tour two weeks later. one of the most courageous acts in music history. i am not kidding!
2018
released sweetener, her fourth album, at number one. "no tears left to cry" debuted in the top three. she became the only artist to have the lead single of her first four albums debut in the top ten. also: pete davidson. also: mac miller's passing. also: the strength it took to keep going. the year after she survived a TERRORIST ATTACK. "die for you" remix with the weeknd topped the hot 100, giving her the most number one duets in hot 100 history, surpassing paul mccartney. separated from dalton gomez. began dating wicked co-star ethan slater.
2024
released eternal sunshine, her first dance and house music album. "yes, and?" and "we can't be friends" both debuted at number one. starred as glinda in wicked alongside cynthia erivo. received an academy award nomination for supporting actress. hosted saturday night live to the show's highest ratings since 2021.
2025
released wicked: for good. released eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead, directing the accompanying short film herself. won video of the year at the mtv vmas for brighter days ahead. opened the academy awards with cynthia erivo. won best pop duo/group performance at the grammys for "defying gravity."
2026
embarking on the eternal sunshine tour, her first concert tour since 2019. upcoming projects include focker-in-law and american horror story season 13. in 2027 she will make her london stage debut in sunday in the park with george opposite jonathan bailey. the era continues.
